Lara Butler is an International GrandPrix Dressage rider based in Gloucestershire. Lara is currently based with the Bechtolsheimer Family, where she has been their rider for the last 10 years.
Lara was born into a "Horsey family", her father was in the Kings Troop and her mother acted as the Chef d'Equipe for Britains Under-21 teams and has since gone on to become the current British Equestrian Federation World Class Co-Ordinator for Dressage.
At the age of 15 Lara contested the 2004 Junior European Championships on MORGI FORTUNA, whom she had on loan at the time. Lara also competed at the 2006 Junior European Championships with the ride WARLOCK whom she subsequently went on to rank 12th in Europe and ride at the 2009 European Championships at Young Rider level.
Once Lara finished university (2010) she was approached by the Bechtolsheimer's she, of course, was only too happy to accept!
Since positioning herself with the Bechtolsheimer family Lara has produced several horses to top level International GrandPrix earning her a whole host of prestigious selections and victories including:
- 2014, Reserve for the World Equestrian Games with the Bechtolsheimer’s Andretti H
- 2016, Reserve for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro
- 2017, European Team Reserve
- 2018, Reserve for 2018 World Equestrian Games
- 2018, British Dressage Grand Prix National Champion with Rubin Al Asad
Lara knows the importance of keeping fit and healthy as a rider, she regularly works with Physiotherapists as well as strength and conditioning coaches in order to continually strive for improvement in her own riding.
