Localised Vibration Therapy
Localised vibration therapy, more widely knows as Vibration therapy (VT), uses vibrations at various frequencies to advantageously affect performance and recovery of athletes.
One of the biggest enemies of any athlete, be it human or equine, is DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)
DOMS typically occurs 24-72hours post exercise. This type of soreness can severely effect athletic performance as well as making athletes more susceptible to injury by way of over compensation of other structures within the body.
LVT or VT is scientifically proven to help increase the supply of oxygenated blood to treatment areas allowing tissues to repair faster.
There is evidence to show that VT can be used as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation as a way of reducing pain perception responses. In a study published in the Journal Of Clinical and Diagnostic Research VT reduced acute musculoskeletal in pain 70% of cases.
